FBLA
What is FBLA?
FBLA is a non-profit career and technical student organization for young men and women enrolled in secondary business education classes.
FBLA is for high school students. But its counterpart, Phi Beta Lambda, is focused on college students working toward a business degree. The official name of the organizations is FBLA-PBL.
FBLA supplements the business education curriculum by extending learning experiences beyond the classroom walls and into the real world. FBLA is a valuable learning tool that:
- attracts more students into business education courses,
- motivates students to learn about and pursue business careers,
- allows teachers to establish rapport with students, and
- publicizes the business education program to parents, administration, and the community.

Our Chapter
The Schuyler R-1 FBLA Chapter applied for a charter in 1941, but for some reason was never formally organized. The Schuyler R-1FBLA chapter was officially begun on January 2, 1974 under the direction of Evelyn Hart. Our chapter is an active participant in several local FBLA and business contests each year. We have earned a strong reputation for expertise in areas such as accounting, keyboarding, and other business contests. Our chapter is widely known for its members’ courteous and sportsman-like behavior. This is a reputation we are proud of. Each year, several of our chapter members earn the right to compete in State and even National FBLA Contests.
The Schuyler R-1 FBLA Chapter is very involved in the community as well. Every year we support Camp Quality in Central Missouri for the families of children with cancer. During the holiday season, we help needy families in our county by “Adopting-A-Child.” We assist other respectable organizations in planning and coordinating community service activities. We plan yearly visits to the local nursing home and help out in the community wherever we can.
The Schuyler R-1 FBLA Chapter has a very good outlook for the future. Each year we recruit the best and the brightest students. We encourage leadership by giving members responsibility and encouragement. Chapter officers gain valuable experience while campaigning and serving in their respective positions. With the assistance of our school’s exceptional faculty, we shall continue to prosper for years to come.
