Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020, families that qualify for free or reduced price meals at school may be eligible for a new one-time Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) of up to $302 per child (Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12) to help cover the cost of meals students have eaten at home on days that schools have been closed. Students can receive P-EBT benefits even if they have been or continue to receive meals provided by the school district during the school closure. If your child was not previously eligible for free or reduced price meals, but you have now lost income, you may be eligible to receive P-EBT benefits (review the P-EBT Eligibility Criteria document below).
The benefit is placed on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card families use to buy food. If you received Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits in March, do not apply for these new/additional benefits. The full $302 will automatically be loaded to your existing EBT card. If you did not receive Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits in March, you must apply for this benefit by June 30, 2020 (see below).
The most efficient way to apply is to submit your application online at EmergencyMealSurvey.com/MO. You will also likely experience a faster approval process. If you’re not able to apply online, you can follow the link below to the paper application. The fillable PDF document can then be emailed or mailed to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). You will find complete instructions and additional details in the letter to families below.
If you have questions you can get on the DESE website.

ELEMENTARY
Please check out the grade level Facebook page or other app your child’s teacher uses (ClassTag, Dojo, Seesaw, etc.). PK-6 teachers plan to post resources they recommend, supplemental or enrichment activities, and/or information. Our hope is that you’ll be able to utilize these activities to have students review and practice skills they have been working on at school. Please be safe during this time. We appreciate your support and patience!

After meeting with the local health departments and area superintendents concerning the corona virus crisis it has been decided that we will be canceling school starting tomorrow, Tuesday the 17th. All school activities, contests, practices and events here at Schuyler R-1 Schools will be canceled as well. The date to come back to school as of now is April 6th. There are to be no activities in the buildings during this time of shut down. This is obviously a difficult decision and unprecedented in our lifetime. This will cause hardship for many in the district and we certainly appreciate everyone for their patience, support, and understanding. We will do our best to communicate with all parties as we continue to monitor the situation.
Thank you
Just a reminder that 7th - 12th Parent Teacher Conference will be on March 17th from 4:00-7:00.

With all the media hype and concerns right now the administration and Board of Education want you to know we are closely following the latest news regarding the Coronavirus and any information being circulated by the Center for Disease Control. We have contacted the Missouri Health Department and at this time, there are no restrictions or requirements to stop activities with large groups of people. Following are some of the suggestions we have been receiving from DESE, MSHSAA, Food and Health Dept, and other organizations and, while most are common sense, they are worth repeating:
Food service: Don't let students serve themselves. Provide them time to wash their hands. We will start this immediately.
Custodial: Spend extra time and care to make sure all surfaces that are touched are cleaned and sanitized.
Perform routine environmental cleaning. Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, countertops) with cleaners that you typically use. Use all cleaning products according to the directions on the label. Provide disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces (e.g., keyboards, desks, remote controls) can be wiped down by students and staff before each use.
Encourage students and staff to take everyday preventative actions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, such as staying home when sick; appropriately covering coughs and sneezes; cleaning frequently touched surfaces; and washing hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty. Remember to supervise young children when they use hand sanitizer to prevent swallowing alcohol, especially in childcare facilities.
As consumers, we should be sure to wash hands after filling our car with gas and use sanitation wipes on grocery shopping carts.
Again, you can never go wrong with practicing good hygiene and teaching your students and children to do the same. We will certainly keep you informed of any new information we receive.
Thank you!
Steve
