ELEMENTARY Please check out the grade level Facebook page or other app your child’s teacher uses (ClassTag, Dojo, Seesaw, etc.). PK-6 teachers plan to post resources they recommend, supplemental or enrichment activities, and/or information. Our hope is that you’ll be able to utilize these activities to have students review and practice skills they have been working on at school. Please be safe during this time. We appreciate your support and patience!
After meeting with the local health departments and area superintendents concerning the corona virus crisis it has been decided that we will be canceling school starting tomorrow, Tuesday the 17th. All school activities, contests, practices and events here at Schuyler R-1 Schools will be canceled as well. The date to come back to school as of now is April 6th. There are to be no activities in the buildings during this time of shut down. This is obviously a difficult decision and unprecedented in our lifetime. This will cause hardship for many in the district and we certainly appreciate everyone for their patience, support, and understanding. We will do our best to communicate with all parties as we continue to monitor the situation. Thank you
Just a reminder that 7th - 12th Parent Teacher Conference will be on March 17th from 4:00-7:00.
With all the media hype and concerns right now the administration and Board of Education want you to know we are closely following the latest news regarding the Coronavirus and any information being circulated by the Center for Disease Control. We have contacted the Missouri Health Department and at this time, there are no restrictions or requirements to stop activities with large groups of people. Following are some of the suggestions we have been receiving from DESE, MSHSAA, Food and Health Dept, and other organizations and, while most are common sense, they are worth repeating: Food service: Don't let students serve themselves. Provide them time to wash their hands. We will start this immediately. Custodial: Spend extra time and care to make sure all surfaces that are touched are cleaned and sanitized. Perform routine environmental cleaning. Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, countertops) with cleaners that you typically use. Use all cleaning products according to the directions on the label. Provide disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces (e.g., keyboards, desks, remote controls) can be wiped down by students and staff before each use. Encourage students and staff to take everyday preventative actions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, such as staying home when sick; appropriately covering coughs and sneezes; cleaning frequently touched surfaces; and washing hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty. Remember to supervise young children when they use hand sanitizer to prevent swallowing alcohol, especially in childcare facilities. As consumers, we should be sure to wash hands after filling our car with gas and use sanitation wipes on grocery shopping carts. Again, you can never go wrong with practicing good hygiene and teaching your students and children to do the same. We will certainly keep you informed of any new information we receive. Thank you! Steve

Hi Schuyler County Elementary Families! We have begun Kids Heart Challenge (formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart)! Your child is learning heart healthy exercises and lessons on how to achieve a heart healthy lifestyle. They also have the chance to feel great about helping kids with special hearts and learn about doing good deeds! Please register your child and take one of the Heart Health Challenges with your Family. This will start a habit in your family for a healthier lifestyle. When you and your child register and choose a Family Heart Health Challenge, your child receives a glow in the dark wristband (no donation necessary). This year during Kids Heart Challenge we are also recognizing positive behavior. When the Echo Club leader sees a student is doing a good deed or act of kindness at school that student will receive an Echo Club Certificate and Echo Club character. If your child raises donations, they receive thank you gifts (starting at $5 - shown on donation envelope). There is a really special family reward this year – if your child raises $250 - your family is invited to attend a Movie Night on KC Chiefs Arrowhead field and participate in the fun activities for the evening. The Wristband, Ruby Sticker, Finn Water Tattoo and all of the Heart Heroes COME TO LIFE! Watch this video with your Child to see how they come to life and so you can meet the Heart Heroes - learn their lessons and see why we are doing Kids Heart Challenge! Click here: Welcome to Kids Heart Challenge In addition to online, you can also raise donations with your Child through PayPal, by check (you can scan your checks with the app), cash or through a Matching Gift Program through your Employer – www.matchinggifts.com/aha. Thank you for taking the Family Heart Health Challenge and helping others! Every single dollar you raise will help kids and families build healthier lives. I'm so proud of our school community for making such a big difference! Thank you for being a Schuyler County Elementary Heart Hero!
Schuyler R 1 buses will run on hard surfaced roads only through Friday February 1st.
